The best compliment that can be made are ones by other authors that I enjoy so completely. I'm rather selective in my writing, just as I am with who I write with. Truthfully, I never write fan fiction, unless the World of Darkness counts, so I was . . . concerned at stepping into such this fascinating, vast pool called Inception, especially late.

I also rarely read fan fiction, but Cillian Murphy is such a wonderful actor, and his character, Robert Fischer, was lovely to watch, so I went searching. It takes a rare . . . I don't know, quality to actually grab my attention. Like a movie that swaps out an actor for a sequel, I get put off quickly if the characters don't feel like their original portrayal.

Here are a few that I recommend because they're awesome, and I love them. They are, in no particular order: [livejournal.com profile] hephs_thighs, [livejournal.com profile] fabiennen, [livejournal.com profile] kirstenlouise, [livejournal.com profile] forgerness, [livejournal.com profile] fermine, [livejournal.com profile] bronson, [livejournal.com profile] jeannedecarnin, [livejournal.com profile] starkraves, and [personal profile] scrapbullet, and I lj-cut because I ramble with all my adoration to where there is really no logic to the content at some points. :)

Filled by [livejournal.com profile] hephs_thighs Before I even wandered into the Kink Meme, I found this and . . . yea, PWP is almost never my favored genre, but I loved this. It kept in character, and some of the comments narrated from Eames to Fischer sounded so real I forgot I was reading porn. And then there was a sequel. “Filled Again” can be found here

Death is Not a Parallel Move by [livejournal.com profile] fabiennen I love the imagery. It's so vivid that it was bloody breathtaking the first time I read it. The dreams are beautiful, captivating in that twisted, painful way that you can't stop reading and feel kind of bad because of it. Just kind of. I loved Fischer's lack of awareness as the story concludes in reality, the psychological decline. And Eames, barely seen yet spot-on.

Half-Remembered Dreams by [livejournal.com profile] kirstenlouise First Browning/Fischer fic out there, I think. Clearly, whomever attempts this pairing is partially out of their mind for doing so. The age difference, what the movie will likely suggest when you think of them, it's all dark. And this one was done in excellent taste.

For the Wars by [livejournal.com profile] fabiennen And I quote, “Eames's smile thins out a little, and Cobb knows it's bad. "Like a virus, you said," he murmurs, unable to keep the bitterness from his tone. “'We did this to him. I have to try to set things right, and this is the only way I know how.'” I admit, I have a D/s kink, and no one else has done the it justice quite like this. But I don't have a crossdressing one, so I was concerned about being put off, but after the last fic, I gave it a shot. That line still has me, and the cutting/drug use was worked in a way that made Eames so intelligent, and the pairing believable.

But we've been bright in our decline by [livejournal.com profile] bronson I almost never wander away from my OTP, but the portrayal of Robert is rather addictive, and there was little knowing what would happen in the end, or why they were arguing, or anything of that sort, and not knowing made it more delicious to read. And afterward, reading the ending, why Robert's acting like he is, I still come back.

The Ocean at Night is Darker Than the Highway by [livejournal.com profile] fermine Sweet crack. Although I never do like whiny, snob Robert, this one was quite adorable. The scene in its entirety was amusing, and the ending just perfect.

Everything About You by [livejournal.com profile] kirstenlouise When I heard this writer was writing Eames/Fischer, I squee'd. Literally and loud enough that my husband turned his head, and that was before I read the damn thing. Then I read it. The banter is taken to a new level of art in this fic, and Fischer was so . . . I'm still lost for words, really, to describe my need for this Fischer. It's really beautiful in that kind of setting that sounds possible. Part 2 and 3 are linked.

Three Years in Japan by [livejournal.com profile] starkraves Never thought I'd find this pairing interesting until I read this verison of Saito. The descriptions are intense and dark, and the story is remarkably well done with Arthur's dedication to Cobb.

The Things That Were Lost in the Fire” by [livejournal.com profile] jeannedecarnin Let me make this clear: I don't read Arthur/Eames. The number of fic out there is overwhelming, so I avoid quantity over quality because it would drive me insane. But this was experimental in format, and I love stories like that, and now I'm rather hooked. The story is simple and complex, vivid in its few words, and intense.

Meathook by [personal profile] scrapbullet Vampires. Yeah, my only other genre of choice other than speculative fiction has to do with a whole lot of vampires, so I was happy to find someone else that thinks combining these two, fantastic worlds isn't completely crazy. Territorial Cobb was nicely done up to the very point that he's holding Robert.

A Serious Bloody Conundrum by [livejournal.com profile] forgerness Seriously, do not drink anything while reading this fic. Or sit in a room while other people are sleeping. Your laughter will cause an utter mess of things. While once again, the characters were cracky, and therefore not as believable, they were nevertheless amusing. Especially the cat. I don't think there's another writer out there that writes a better feline or caused me to want a Gen fic of Yusuf's cat.

Thank you all for your contributions to this fandom.

I mentioned at one point that I don't read a lot of Arthur/Eames, and I would like to change that, alongside broadening my spectrum of visually stunning pieces. So please, recommend your favorites to me.

D'aw. <3 Then I'll have to pretend that I didn't squee when I read this and realized what Cobb was. :) Revenge for what Browning did has been on my mind a lot, so this was posted at the best timing, and even without such reason, I would've read with equal cheer.
