Eames/Robert Maaaaadness

Over the holidays, [livejournal.com profile] forgerness gave me the gift of porn. Specifically, it was Robert giving himself to Eames, bow tie and all. Now, for Robert’s birthday, I was thinking that we ought to do the same, give the gift of Eames/Robert.

. . . in either art or fic, of course!

Sept 17 would be the posting date. I was thinking that on that date a Master List could be posted to each of the communities to avoid the sudden, yet phenomenal, congestion. Art/Fic could be posted to personal journals near the existing dates and anytime after the 17th on its own if desired.

I was thinking that before we could have a prompt/kink phase where anyone can prompt anything as long as its Eames/Robert. And people could claim them.

Well, what do y’all think?

Also, please, please crosspost this to your journals to let others know so that input can be gathered. Thanks, darlings! <3

Edit: Option #2 would be the July 16 release date for the film, but I'm worried about other conflicting ideas that might pop up.

I'm not sure I get what you mean. Are you talking about doing an E/R only challenge? Or a fest of some kind? 'Cause this is kinda vague and July (let alone september!) is a long way away.

Well . . . that's up to us to decide! I mean we could manage a smaller Big Bang Challenge, with our awesome aritsts and writers, or we could do something similar to a fest, or there's always a mesh of the two.

The idea that I had was having a) sign-ups, b) prompt/claim stage, and c) posting, so yes, it does kind of act more like a Big Bang, but without the collaborative part? IDK. lol. September is a while, but there is planning, straightening this out, etc, before going to the masses.

I don't want to be Captain SqueeQuash or anything here, but I don't think a single pairing Big Bang is a good idea. With any Bang there are always dropouts and there are already only a handful of people devoted to any one pair enough to participate in a Bang.

We're at a point in fandom where BNFs are starting to drop out and A/E has lost a little steam; lots of people are turning their attention to rairpairs, but occupying RP authors with a challenge means there'll be less fic/art coming out at a time when fandom needs it most. If we hold on to our fics 'til September it might be too late to cultivate interest.

Nope, not a problem at all, darling! Your input is greatly appreciated because well, I'm a newb to fandom, let alone these bangs and fests, really. Just love my E/R and want MORE, y'know? :P

Rarepair Big Bang, then? It's sad. I remember when Big Bang rolled around, I wound up being the only E/R post, and that didn't catch a lot of attention because it added the bonus obscurity of WoD. (My fault, but I was in love with the concept.) Even if certain authors are leaving, I have a feeling that it would be the very same freight train, and I had to sound cynical, but I can only stand picking up Robert's spleen off the tracks so many times.

Inception Bang had a long posting time. Reverse Bang, because of it's shorter length, is . . . not so much. Maybe something of a shorter length that gets annouced in June with the posting start date for September? That's three months to create, collab, and work everything out.

Before you decide anything I think it would be best to find out in the original IBB is going to have another round. I haven't heard anything but they could be waiting for IRB to be finished. Encouraging a bunch of people to write rarepair for a general Bang sounds a lot more attractive to me than a small RP only Bang.

The thing about doing a limited Bang is that with any challenge, you have to assume that half the people that tell you "I'll do this!" won't sign up, and of the people that sign up, 10-25% may drop. When you're already starting with a limited number of participants that means the final turnout is bound to be low. Nothing sadder than a challenge that only turns out 5 decent sized fics long after everyone's stopped caring.

Why not just do a RP comment-fic fest, if only to gauge interest? If you can't get a decent number of people to pump out 700 words of porn for their RPs, there's little chance of getting enough people to do several k.

That icon, it still makes me giggle. Sadly, I would have no idea how to host such a thing. Though Dan mentioned a SixWordStory challenge. Hrm.

And yeah, IDK if they're doing another BB for Inception. It'll likely depend if there's that level of interest by the end of the year. I'm afraid that this is too little, too late for us.

I dunno what a SixWordStory challenge is, other than what the name implies, but for a comment-fic fest all you really gotta do is make a post saying "POST COMMENTFICS HERE" not unlike the Bottom-Eames fest just a little while ago?

After giving it a bit more thought, I'd recommend that you'd stick with the September date. The July date is a little close (just over 2 months) for anyone who wants to do a longer fic.

Poke me when you see me online and we can discuss it a bit more. I think it's gonna depend on if you want to structure it somewhat like a Big Bang, or have something a bit more freeform.

I'm starting to prefer structure. :P There's still the ability to be creative, do what you want, but without worrying about dropouts, pinch-hitters, etc, etc. So it's more relaxed, I think.

[identity profile] icrackthecodes.livejournal.com 2011-05-01 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
You know that I am so up for this. I would stick with the September date, though - that means people will have the whole summer to come up with stuff, and July seems very very close now it's May!

[identity profile] the-azure-blue.livejournal.com 2011-05-01 12:20 pm (UTC)(link)
It is May. Wow. I knew it was coming, just not quite so soon. Time, where do you go? I'm leaning toward a more structured idea, so a later date it likely is.

[identity profile] hesselives.livejournal.com 2011-05-01 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
i think a general rarepair fest would be awesome. :) (i think maybe kirsten already mentioned that at some point?) but anyway, you know how poorly i do with deadlines, so even if the posting date is dragged out all the way to December, i would probably still not make it. oh god, this is sad. ;___;

lol, well, you could always post your Eames notes. Even if his notebook is teeny tiny in comparision to the on in the flick. :P

And yes, I poked Kirsten about it as well. Both ideas have been in my head for a while, but Robert's birthday just felt so . . . fitting, y'know?
